Compare and Contrast Essay
The third essay of the semester will be a compare and contrast essay. The goal of this essay is to compare the similarities and differences of any two topics while maintaining a specific exigence aimed at a specific audience. We make decisions in our lives everyday from the choice of what to eat for lunch to the choice of what route to take on our way home. In every choice, we have a purpose for making a comparison of two or more things. Students will persuade an audience to see their way of thinking when comparing two things by utilizing Aristotle's persuasive appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos. With this essay, students will be able to tackle a traditional essay format while focusing on keeping a strong exigence and writing for a specific audience.
